Working with a firm that is near your office not only helps expedite resolutions but also provides your team with confidence knowing there is a physical HR presence in the office. Check out some reasons why your company should work with an HR company that is near your office. 1. Smaller Firms Means More Hands-On Service Your company is more than an account number. Your business is growing and your team counts on you to provide benefits, payroll and human resources management. Unlike large firms that shuffle many accounts and are a revolving door of HR managers, smaller firms can provide a hands-on approach that makes your company a priority. These firms are nimble, quick, and lean – providing you answers when you need them on your schedule. 2. In-Person Conversations Are Preferred If you are having trouble with a manager, subordinate, or coworker the last thing you would want to do is try to find an open office or hide in your car to speak with someone over the phone. While a recent trend is outsourcing HR to a call center, you tend to lose that personal touch when you never get face time with your human resources company. Phone conversations are slightly better than email, as they allow the caller to convey a message with tone. However, they do not allow a face-to-face conversation where body language can be interpreted. How would you know if the HR person on the other end of the line is actually paying attention? In-person conversations provide active listening and allows for both parties to engage and react in real time, providing a better experience for all involved. 3. Availability Is Important An HR professional, no matter if they’re outsourced or a part of your company, should be easy to reach and available with you need them. Having an HR contact in another state or time zone can be problematic as they may not answer the phone after hours. Workplace situations will not wait for standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. hours – adding time zones on top of that can really complicate things for you and your team! 4. Local HR Contacts Know Your Company’s Headquarters Working with an HR firm nearby can help because they know your area. They’re familiar with customs and norms of your place of business because they actually live there. These HR professionals speak your language and there’s no worry about misunderstanding communication or being unaware of local laws or regulations.
